Is Beta testing a new website a best practice for site design?
Are there any standards for how best to go about Beta testing?

you can follow the Google model where everything remains in Beta for several years.
Well, that might be fun, but I'm looking for some actual, semi-believable practices.
We could just be like Microsoft and delay our release dates, too :)
You could be like Movable Type and go into Beta for a while, then delay the release date ON the announced release date!
