Duurr....

As heard on Lou Dobbs:

"The e-mail generation cannot write, spell or communicate."

Maybe I should say:

"The emal genration cant rite, spel, or comunicete."

Durr....

But have hope! Lou doesn't believe it. He blames the corps who did the study, who are surely trying to create an excuse to send more jobs overseas.

(Me, I think the study was probably poorly designed. And Lou is a bit, um, paranoid....)

On a brighter note, I had a very happy Turkey Day. My sister cooked a yummy (and surprisingly healthful) dinner, with all the fixings at my aunt's house in Texas. It was 75 degrees! And it is in the 60s now here in Cincinnati. For today, at least, I heart global warming.

A sample recipe:
Sweet potatoes, soaked overnight to reduce the starch, with 2tbsps of butter for the whole dish, splenda brown sugar, and walnuts. Delicious! I've never even like sweet potatoes before :)

We saw two movies: Stranger than fiction (which was awesome - I wish that my wrist watch cared so much about me) and Running with scissors (which sucked, but sometimes you have to humor your sister, particularly after she makes a delicious dinner).

My sister took me, my cousin, and his super-cool new girlfriend pottery painting. I painted a giant mug, Laurie (my sis) decorated a planter, and Allison (Eric's gf) painted a snowflake ornament. Eric (my cos) chose to be original, and painted the "Everybody poops" version of a monkey mug, complete with floating feces on the inside. Won't he make a fun lawyer?

Other highlights:
Cincinnati airport is the most expensive one in the nation. So I had to fly out of Dayton to save $200 (one hour north of me). Then, I had to sit through a three hour layover in Cincinnati, both ways. I spent more time in a layover at an airport a half hour from my house than I did on either flight (1/2 hour Dayton to Cincy, 2.5 hours Cincy to Houston). Why is this? It can't be good for the airline (Delta) to put my on the extra flight, can it? I spent about $20 total in the Cincinnati airport on food & magazines, but I spent $20 on parking in Dayton, so that must be a wash. If anyone can figure this out, the people of Cincinnati would be grateful (since most of the people on my flight out of Dayton were, in fact, from Cincinnati).

I slept on an air mattress for 2 of the three nights. Unfortunately, the mattress had a hole in it. The first night, it deflated in about 1/2 hour, but I was too tired to be bothered until about 7am. The second night (with the addition of duct tape) it lasted about 2-3 hours, but I had to move at 5am. That, combined with my redeye on the way out (the one night we stayed in a hotel, for the sake of the airport shuttle) meant that I got very little sleep. But it was still worth it!

Toby was happy and confused to see me. He actually barked at a really big dog before we left the boarding place. I think four days at puppy camp with other small dogs has emboldened him.

Go Blue!

I moved to a Red State.

But it's turning Blue!

(I've been waiting to say that for months)

And it looks like no smoking in public places. Fancy.

Dems and Independents shouldn't flee to Canada - they should move to Ohio. I could use more company.

And I love the Tigers for winning the AL Championship. If the Red Wings are any guide, they will get their World Series title in a few years.

So far, a pretty happy fall.

New things to worry about:
Can the Dems figure something out to improve the situation in Iraq?
Can someone do something about the genocide in Darfur? Anybody recall the words "never again"?

(I realize that this is all over the map, but still)
