43 Things I did in Argentina

In (sorta) order:
  1. Saw the Niagara on Viagra (aka Iguazu Falls). 
  2. Got rained on in a sub-tropic climate.
  3. Hiked in the jungle.
  4. Climbed a rock wall in the rain.
  5. Discovered that I was covered in red mud.
  6. Saw Paraguay & Brazil from a boat.
  7. Ate tea for lunch.
  8. Found out maps of Buenos Aires don't have a North. 
  9. Watched a bird poop on Olga.
  10. Visited Recoletta Cemetery & found Evita's grave.
  11. Spent a day at a HUGE street fair (at least 20 blocks) in San Telmo. 
  12. Bought stuff.
  13. Met a German experiencing culture shock. 
  14. Visited a very strange art museum.
  15. Went to a movie.
  16. Got rained on in a city.
  17. Caught a cold (aka Google Virus).
  18. Landed in a crazy beautiful airport.
  19. Went horseback riding at an estancia in El Calafate. 
  20. Failed to sleep in a super stuffy (but cute) hotel. 
  21. Stopped at a hotel where Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid once holed up.
  22. Drank throat healing Patagonian tea (con miel y limon). 
  23. Climbed a mountain & saw the lovely Fitz Roy on my birthday. 
  24. Celebrated with a bday dinner of pumpkin soup (thanks, Olga!) and half a brownie.
  25. Got rained on in a sub-arctic climate. 
  26. Wasted a day.
  27. Snuck into a Flamingo park. 
  28. Saw todos los glaciares!!!!
  29. Found out my grandma had passed away over email. 
  30. Got stuck in a crazy beautiful airport for 3 hours.
  31. Made it to the end of the world (Ushuaia). 
  32. Called my mom. 
  33. Visited the most bizarre museum in the world. Saw large statues of former prisoners and and former prison wing filled with community art projects. 
  34. Visited los penguinos on a small island. Got to be the first to stand next to one on our tour. 
  35. Made fun of the people who took the boat tour & couldn't get on the island. Ruined their pictures by standing in their photos.
  36. Saw sea lions on a boat tour. Hopped on bouncy flora & fauna.
  37. Climbed a mountain to see a glacier, only to discover that we needed snow shoes to make the final assent. 
  38. Felt intimidated by the Ski Magazine guys who were climbing with their equipment to ski down, and walking much faster than Olga and me. 
  39. Saw the mountains of Chili across the bay. 
  40. Got a haircut in Buenos Aires from someone who did not speak English. 
  41. Went to a grunge tango concert. 
  42. Visited La Boca. 
  43. Got a lesson in Argentinean expressions from the front desk guy at our posada.

Sorry to hear (read) about your Grandma. I lost two grandparents while abroad. It's pretty bad.
